The Common Admission Test (CAT) could be a computer-based test for admission in an exceedingly graduate management program. The test consists of three sections –

Before 2009, CAT was a paper-based test conducted on a single day for all candidates. The pattern, number of questions, and duration have seen considerable variations over the years.
On 1 May 2009, it was announced that CAT would be a Computer Based Test starting from 2009. CAT 2015 and CAT 2016 were 180-minute tests consisting of 100 questions (34 from Quantitative Ability (QA), 34 from Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), and 32 from Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR).
Eligibility for CAT
1- Have to have a bachelor's degree, with no less than 50% or equal CGPA (45% for
Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently
Able (DA) classification)
2- The degree should be granted by any of the universities consolidated by an act of the central or state statutory body in India or other instructive organizations built up by an act of Parliament or pronounced to be considered as a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
3- Competitors appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and the individuals who have finished degree prerequisites and are anticipating results can likewise apply. If selected, such applicants will be permitted to join the program temporarily, only if they present a certificate most recent by June 30, 2020, from the principal/registrar of their college/institute (issued at the latest June 30, 2020) declaring that the competitor has finished every one of the conditions for acquiring four-year or three-year college education/identical capability on the date of the issue of the certificate.
What Is the CAT Exam?
CAT Exam (Common Admission Test) is a computer-based entrance test conducted by The Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) as a condition for admission in their business

CAT Exam Syllabus.
There is no predefined syllabus for the CAT exam. The syllabus mainly consists of middle school topics of Math and English with some general logical reasoning questions. A few important details of the Syllabus are:
CAT Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation: The logical reasoning consists of a wide variety of questions and is very generic based on the seating arrangement, direction sense test, etc. are included. The data interpretation section mainly consists of data caselets and graphs.
CAT Quantitative Aptitude: The syllabus for quantitative aptitude sections mainly
consists of topics from 8th -10th standard like geometry, number system, algebra, etc.
CAT Verbal Ability: Reading Comprehension: In this section of VARC, the syllabus mainly consists of comprehension passages followed by a few questions. If an applicant is shortlisted for WAT and PI by any of the IIMs, he/she has to comply with the following eligibility verification:
Mark sheets and Degree Certificate-
Candidates who get shortlisted are required to submit the photocopies of all the
original mark sheets as proof of their eligibility at the time of the interview.
A candidate who gets selected for a particular program, he or is also required
to submit the original degree certificate and mark sheets of all the semesters/years
along with the attested copies at the time of joining.
Reservation Category Requirements-
If an ST, SC, NC-OBC, and DA candidates get selected are required to submit their
original caste/class and/ or disability certificate at the time of their interview. A
candidate selected for a program will have to submit the original certificate of
qualifying degree and an attested copy of the same for verification.
Candidates in the Final Year of Graduation-
Candidates who are appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree or similar to
this is required to demand an original certificate from the
Principal/Registrar/Director of the university/institution certifying that the candidate has obtained 50% (45% for the SC, STA, and DA category candidates) or based on the latest grades/marks system at the time of the interview. He/she is also required to submit an attested copy of the original certificate (for category candidates).
If the candidates are selected for the Post Graduate Programme of IIMs, they will be allowed to join the program, provisionally only, if they submit a certificate from the registrar/principal of their college/institute mentioning that they have completed all the necessary requirements.
The deadline for submission of the mark sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2020. IIMs also states that “NON FULFILLMENT OF THIS CONDITION WILL AUTOMATICALLY RESULT IN THE CANCELLATION OF THE PROVISIONAL ADMISSION.” If the certificates are incorrect or have any discrepancies later, the provisional admission in such cases will be canceled. If a candidate fails to complete all the requirements for a bachelor's degree on or before the last week of June 2020, IIM will not allow the candidate to join any of their programs.
Admission Process.
The second stage of selection includes a Written Ability Test (WAT) and a Personal Interview (PI). The performance of individuals in the CAT 2020 exam will be an important
component in the overall selection process. IIM also considers previous academic records
of the candidates, relevant work experience, and other similar bases while shortlisting.
