Tata Institute of social sciences or commonly known as TISS is a public research institution located in Mumbai, India. Founded in 1936 in Bombay presidency of British India is known as Asia’s oldest institute for social work. Till 1944 it was known by the name of Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1964 it was declared deemed university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act by the government of India. Life at TISS Mumbai

1. Beginning of the new world
As soon as you enter the TISS Mumbai campus you will notice vitality in the
environment, it is definitely a gem of an institute. After you would have settled
yourself, the real grinding would begin with attending 15-16 hours of lectures daily
alongside the guest lecture, assignment deadlines, case studies, applying for
internships, and obviously studying for surprise tests and final examinations. Well, all
of this seems a lot but it would take no time to get along with this routine.

By the end of two golden years, you would have worked and known each member of
your class. Seniors would become your biggest support system and even savior

spend two lovely years of life in this city. Mumbai welcomes all with both its arms
open. Marine drive is quite famous among college students, once you will become
familiar with this city you will find yourself spending most of your leisure time at
marine drive with friends. If you are a beach person then surely you will fall in love
with this city for having dozens of beaches. Mumbai has a lot to offer in terms of clubs too, mostly college students visit clubs on weekends, there are numerous
eateries where you can munch whenever you get hungry after a long tiring day at
college. As we know “all work and no play can make Jack a dull boy” and surely you
don’t want to be dull.

4. Academic collaborations
Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai offers a different level of exposure to
students in their two years of stay at TISS. They collaborate with elite Institute all
across the world such as the University of Columbia, University of Pennsylvania,
The University of Chicago, University of Edinburgh, London School of economics,
Massachusetts Institute of technology and many more premium institutes under
Erasmus Mundus Program. In this way, you would not be the same frog confined in
