India has some great technical colleges like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIIT Hyderabad, etc., that holds an international significance in technical education. Since ancient times India has been known as the knowledge hub for learning anything new. Nalanda and Takshila were the first universities in the world where people studied different subjects and gained mastery over them. But after globalization, the whole scenario has changed. Now, education is evaluated on various parameters decided by the international bodies to ensure learning with advancement.
Multiple organizations and ventures in the world work as the monitoring authorities to measure the efficacy of various recognized institutions all over the globe. They assess colleges and universities on different aspects like alumni salaries after completing the degree, research papers in renowned journals, faculties contribution, overall students satisfaction and diversity among the students and faculties, etc. After analyzing each aspect, they prepare a list of the best colleges or universities in the world to study particular streams and subjects. Their primary focus remains around technology and management. Due to this, every year, lakhs candidates compete for the best engineering and management colleges. India has produced some of the finest management colleges, but students prefer to study in international universities due to increasing international exposure. But why do they choose international colleges despite having some of the great management institutions? And where do our B-Schools stand internationally? Today we dive deep into the information about top B-Schools of India.
Before we talk about the colleges, first, let’s talk about how many quality institutions we have in India. There are approx 8000+ colleges in India that offer MBAs in various specializations, but there are barely 100 business schools that hold a reputation among Indian students. If you go with the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), there are only 75 B-Schools that offer quality education. NIRF is the government body whose work is to evaluate the university’s performance and helps students to choose the best. They released the rankings of the best business colleges in India.
Similar to past years, IIMs tops the ranking list where IIM Ahmedabad is the top position holder, followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta. These colleges offer excellent placements, the highest salary packages, international exposure, and international standard quality education.
One more college with an equal reputation of IIMs in India is the Indian School Of Business (ISB) Hyderabad. It is a private B-School founded in 2001 with the vision of providing excellent business management education in India. Since its inception, it has set the highest bar of quality education in India. It is also one of the extremely few private institutions in India that have an international significance.
Financial Times has recently released their MBA rankings for 2021, and there are 5 Indian business colleges on their list. As expected, there are four IIMs in that list, and the other one is ISB. In the list of Indian colleges, there are ISB Hyderabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM Indore ranked at 23, 35, 44, 48, and 96, respectively. This list is topped by INSEAD College France and dominated by American Business schools.
IIM Indore marks its place for the first time on the list, and in the future, we might see some more B-Schools from India.
These Indian colleges are good in terms of education and are affordable compared to their international counterparts. Where an MBA abroad costs you around 1.5 to 2 crores, here in India, the maximum fee for flagship MBA programs like MBA in the Executive branch ranges between 40 to 45 lakhs while maintaining the same reputation as an international institution.
Having an MBA on your CV undoubtedly fetches you a great company with high salary packages. But thinking that only the foreign institutions offer stable career progression might not be the right choice. India is still the home to affordable quality education that attracts students all around the globe. Universities of India are famous among the students of Middle-East and Asian origin and some parts of Europe. Due to this, Universities spend adequate time and money to maintain the education standards making Indian education forever glowing and increasing.
